Focus the Nation at CSU (January 2008)

Focus the Nation is a national movement to bring awareness, education, and action to address climate change. January 30-31, 2008, convened a national teach-in on global warming solutions for America. This national dialogue at over a thousand colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools, places of worship, civic organizations and businesses, directly engaged millions of students and citizens with the nation’s decision-makers. The Colorado Institute of Public Policy joined a panel on Local Programs and Policies to highlight efforts by the City of Fort Collins and the City of Denver.

2008 Global Climate Change Conference (April 2008)

In its second year, the conference educates, inspires, and empowers high school students to be informed citizens and future leaders on global climate issues. Subjects to be addressed include climate science, mitigation and adaptation opportunities, local/national/international impacts and strategies, and alternative energy.

Undergraduate Policy Internships (Summer 2008)

Undergraduate internships provide a climate change policy immersion opportunity for Colorado College and Hampton University students. Students will join world class atmospheric scientists and policy experts in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University, and the Colorado Institute of Public Policy for a ten week internship investigating the science of clouds, climate, and weather, and policy issues related to changing climates in the Rocky Mountain West.

Colorado’s Future Conference on Climate Change (Fall 2008)

Climate change policies are made at all governmental levels, from global treaties to national governments, regional consortiums to state plans and local government initiatives. The 2008 conference will focus on the challenges and opportunities to coordinating multiple levels of governmental policy making and programming to address climate change effectively and speedily.

The Colorado’s Future Conferences are an annual event hosted by the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, Center for Colorado Policy Studies and Colorado State University, Colorado Institute of Public Policy. Past Colorado's Future conferences have focused on rural change, inner-city redevelopment, school finance, economics and education, water research.

Colorado Governance Program in Climate Change Policy (Spring 2009)

Colorado College and the Catamount Institute are partnering with CIPP to design a climate change curriculum to be used in the first year of the newly forming Colorado Governance Program at CIPP. The first class is tentatively planned for spring 2009. Check back in the fall for more information.
